The Faces of San Francisco
During the 365 project, I chose to challenge myself further by taking 100 portraits. This process of asking strangers took exactly four months to complete—from July 1st to October 31st, 2024. Once a day I would make a single photograph: a portrait of a stranger. More important than the image was the story behind it. I could only get to know each person for about 30 minutes, but their impression was long lasting. The uniquity and story told revealed their natural and true self in that time, and through the slow process of a large format camera, they became relaxed enough to show their authentic self.
This is a selection of photographs and stories told from the series. Click on the photo to learn more about each person. (work in progress)
